Mountain Biker

Biography

I love mountain biking because of the pure enjoyment, adventure and the challenge it offers. It has to be fun as that is what reminds me why I do this and dedicate so much time and effort to it.

My goals for 2019 are to successfully manage full-time study with training and a little bit of racing, and to have some powerful races at the National and Oceania champs in a few weeks’ time which will hopefully mean some good results!

My ultimate goal is racing at the World MTB Championships. I’ve been pursuing selection for a few years but haven’t quite got there yet.

I train under the coaching from ESP because Tammy and Patrick are super supportive and really know what kind of training it takes to perform at a high level, nationally and internationally. They not only provide a kick-arse training program but also advice on everything from nutrition to performance planning and psychology.

My most memorable race is the first World MTB Cup I competed in in Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic. There were thousands of crazy spectators there and the atmosphere was insane. From the heart beat echoing round the venue on the start line to riding up the climb where the fans were so loud (they had chainsaws, horns, you name it) that you would be deaf for the next few minutes after, it was such an exciting race to be a part of.
